This course focuses on the social, political, economic, and cultural power and impact of the mass media.  Contemporary societies consider it as a necessity for life on the basis that it links and strengthens social relations and the relation between the ruler and the ruled; in addition, it affords people the opportunity to express themselves and its role in strengthening international relations.  This is the positive side but on the negative side, mass media can have a negative impact if it is not properly used.  It can break up the society and corrupt it through the dissemination of images and other forms.   And finally this course is designed to study the effects of media on society and the media policies which attempt to strengthen the relationship between them as well as to discuss contemporary media issues.
