After developing countries gained independence, these countries began working towards achieving comprehensive development.  After the spread of mass communication means on a large scale and its profound impact, the primary focus of media research then was on how to apply them (mass communication means) and put them to use for the development process.   Realizing the profound impact and influence of communication on the development of communities has led to the rise of media development.  This course is designed to provide models and different theories which explain the role of communication in the development process; in addition to a review of the outcome of the research and theories related to media development.
